Misspent Youth

 Retro surfboards by Steamship Surf

Brings back my wayward, misspent youth (or was it more like well-spent?)
And the smell of Coppertone.
Radness.

SI Swimsuit Issue Athletes

 Athletes:
Alex Morgan/soccer  Natalie Coughlin/swimming  Natalie Gulbis/Golf

Body Painting & Make-up by Joanne Gair
Hair Laura De Leon

Stoked to see a couple of the female athletes I have worked with (Natalie Gulbis & Natalie Coughlin) in the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. They picked three female athletes to be body painted by Joanne Gair (who is the queen of body painting). These swimsuits suits look so real that you really have to look hard to realize that it's all body painting! But more than that, I am thrilled that they had female athletes in the issue!!

Humbled

"Cindy is one of the pioneer women & rad skateboarder. At 15 years old she was featured as the FIRST FEMALE CENTERFOLD in a Skate Magazine" SK

"She is an idol for women skateboarders. She has paved the way for all of the upcoming females in a male dominated sport."  SK

"30 years ago she was better skateboarder than most guys all over the world. In late 70's a maneuver that sounds "easy" today, like simple grinding on the lip, was the edge, and just really good skaters were able to do."  SK

"Cindy Whitehead, it's a great honor to have you in our Gallery of Legends. We also want to congratulate you for your killer job in the fashion market. Last, but not least, we are a community based in Brazil and now you are a legend to Brazilian Skateboard Guys & Girls Too. Thank you for all your contributions to the history of skateboarding" www.facebook.com/skatersbr

**So frigging honored that SK featured me in their Legends of Skateboarding series. No words to even tell you how that feels...

Being Addicted Rules

photos and recipe via A Cozy Kitchen. Click here to beome addicted.

I normally don't do food posts as I hate cooking (of any kind). And if we are being totally honest...  I've had a few accidents in the kitchen that have landed me on a first name basis with the local Urgent Care doctor. In fact he knows me so well, that we are now Facebook friends. What does that say? So maybe it's more like I am not allowed in the kitchen. Or near sharp objects like knives. Or cheese graters.

But when my buddy Pam posted this link on Twitter the other day I knew I had to get off my lazy ass and make this on Valentine's Day to surprise the husband - because the way to a man's heart is through his stomach right? Or is it via lingerie??  I'll get back to you on that one.

Considering that 98% of this Toasted Marshmallow Shake is done in a blender, it's not really "cooking" so I figured I could handle it. And I did... if you don't count almost setting the kitchen on fire when I "roasted" 3 marshmallows on a stick over the stove and an inferno started, I think it all went pretty well.

OK back to the shake, it has yummy marshmallows, vanilla ice cream, some yogurt and other stuff in it - so I'm thinking it's all pretty healthy in the end...

Disclaimer: It tastes so good you should probably double the recipe if you plan on sharing. Or else the other person will get like a sip and that's it. Yep, it's that good. Trust me.

Aspen Shoot - Part 2

The X-Games athletes tribute to skier Sarah Burke...
This 300 sq ft cabin was built in the 1800's. It's lived in year round.

Aspen. Photo shoot. Gondola's, Snowcats. Snowmobiles. 11,550 ft up. Good food. Great crew. Outhouses. Awesome client. Rad athletes. Fresh powder. Snowball fight. Log Cabins. Icy roads. Solar power. X-Games. Snow angels. Good times.

For this shoot some of the locations were so remote that we took a gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain, then boarded a (luxury) private snowcat (blasting rock music for our drive - of course ) and went deep into the mountains to a couple different cabins & then when needed, rode on snowmobiles to location spots. Don't let the sunny photos fool you - it was damn cold at times! Some of us hit the X-Games at night or ate dinner at some of Aspens' amazing restaurants. It was a pretty great time on and off the mountain due to the amazing crew we had!

** What you normally see in a studio setting is what we all helped take up/down the mountain for the shoot - lots of apparel, shoes & accessories, photo gear, styling kits, food & drinks, hair & make-up stuff, etc. etc. And it all has to fit in those bins on the side of the cat or inside with us... At that point packing light becomes an art!
As soon as the final shots are released I will make sure to share them with you guys - I'm super excited about them.
